So you’re doing a PR degree?

What is Public Relations? A question I get asked many a times by family and friends on my occasional weekends back home to London and if I am honest I often find myself asking the same question. I don’t know where to begin with my answer; maybe such a degree can only be explained and understood through experience. It then comes to the question, where is best to gain such valuable experience and how to appropriately contact the Kings and Queens of communication.

I am a hardworking (of course) second year student at Leeds Metropolitan University studying Public Relations. I have decided to use this blog to discuss and reflect on what it takes to study PR at Leeds Metropolitan and more importantly how to get your foot in the PR world of work.

I want to focus on all the angles which contribute to this exciting career and discover what the best route there really is. Academic and personal issues, both short term and long term placement opportunities and what the future holds in term for employment opportunities for Public Relations student are all issues that I am looking to explore.
